Iain Sinclair says stop destroying local communities

Iain Sinclair is author of “Hackney, That Rose-Red Empire.” Its about the way communities are being shoved aside to make way for progress in is worst form – large identikit corporate property developments that are making the world the same, making developers rich, allowing allowing local government bigwigs to climb the greasy pole and in some cases lining the pockets of corrupt council officials.
Hackney plans to build a so-called temporary school for 6 years in much loved parkland is one of those sorts of developments – its a vital piece in a jigsaw of much larger property deals all over the Borough – knocking down a leisure centre to build flats; knocking down a school to build another school , and a huge block of flats …
Hackney is the second most densely populated area in England – after neighbouring Islington – it makes no sense to keep building here when there are so many other places that are crying out for development funding, and it particularly makes no sense to build in parkland – please help us by writing to object to the proposed temporary school – write to planning@hackney.gov.uk – Subject line 2016/2600 – Reason for opposition – there are many – see below – but how about “No building on London parkland”
